The AGM NVG-50 3AW1 1x19mm f/1.26 Gen 3 White Phosphor Level 1 Night Vision Goggle/Binocular is defined by its wide field of view and compact, comfortable, versatile design—making it ideal for a wide array of stealth and tactical applications. It can be mounted on tactical or aviation helmets, worn on the head, or held in the hand, and you can even disable one intensifier tube to convert it into a monocular for specialized uses. The unit can run on either the one included CR123A lithium battery or an easy-to-find AA alkaline, and there is an optional battery pack for extended runtime.
This version of the NVG-50 features dual 3rd generation autogated image intensifier tubes and P-45 white phosphor screens. Autogated intensifiers constantly operate to improve image clarity and contrast in dynamic lighting conditions, and white phosphor screens produce views that appear closer to black & white for better object recognition while providing contrast sensitivity. The tube condition is designated Level 1: Representing the cleanest tubes without spots for the clearest views. The design allows you to disable either side, based on your preference, and move it out of the way. This enables the use of one side as a monocular so you can maintain maximum situational awareness and extend the battery’s runtime by powering just one tube. Sensors activate the NVG-50 when it is flipped down to your eyes and powers it down when flipped up and stowed.
The included goggle kit allows you to adjust the eyepiece position up, down, forward, and back to get the perfect fit for your helmet style and has a wide 54-78mm interpupillary adjustment distance to accommodate most face sizes and shapes. Its -6 to +2 dioptric correction allows focusing compensation, even if your eyesight isn’t perfect. Once properly adjusted it has 17mm of eye relief for maximum comfort with a close focus distance of just 10 inches and an integrated IR illuminator that allow you to pack gear, do weapon checks, set up an LZ, or perform triage and first aid without giving away your position. AGM includes a pair of demist shields to prevent fogging and sacrificial windows that protect the objective lenses from windblown sand and debris.
Performance
- Use the NVG-50 in binocular position to improve comfort during extended use, or as a monocular by rotating one tube up and out of the way
- Intensifier tube amplifies ambient light to allow a user to see in extremely low light, requiring the equivalent of moonlight or bright starlight to function properly
- Unmagnified 1x power ensures an exceptional 51° field of view to maintain situational awareness and scan terrain for targets
- 19mm f/1.26 lens system ensures a compact and lightweight form factor for maneuverability over rough terrain or in close quarters
- Dual Gen 3+ autogated intensifier tubes
- Autogated tubes automatically control the amount of light reaching the intensifiers so bright lights do not damage the unit and to reduce blooms
- P-45 white phosphor screens produce a more black & white view versus the signature night vision yellow-green for improved object recognition with the same or better contrast sensitivity
- “Level 1” tube condition has no spots and indicates a very clean tube for the clearest views
- Multi-coated optics enable maximum IR transmission so as much light gets to the intensifier tube as possible
- Built-in infrared (IR) illuminator provides additional light with a range of up to 10′ (3m) for better visibility at close range without giving its user’s position away
- 10″ minimum focus distance allows a user to perform tasks like gear checks and packing/unpacking without giving away their position
- Long 17mm eye relief reduces eye strain
Use & Handling
- Individually focusing eyepieces & objective lens enable precise focusing when used as a binocular or monocular
- 54-78mm interpupillary adjustment range accommodates most users
- -6 to +2 dioptric correction on each eyepiece
- Manual gain control allows the user to adjust image brightness and adapt it to current ambient light conditions while reducing or eliminating night blindness
- When worn on head or helmet, unit will automatically power down when stowed (flipped up) and turn on when deployed (flipped down)
- Bright light cut-off shuts down power when exposed to excessive levels of light for more than 10 seconds
- Automatic shut-off system turns off the device when it is unused (controls are not touched) for 60 minutes to preserve battery life
- In-view low-battery, bright light cut-off, and IR illuminator on indicators
Included Items
- Goggle kit allows for vertical adjustment and fore-and-aft adjustment
- Bayonet/Horn Interface Shoe for installing the NVG-40/NVG-50 to either a standard bayonet/horn type headset or a helmet mount
- Winged eyecup: Adjustable for left or right eye use, the eyecup conforms to the contours of a user’s face to prevent outside light (like from streetlamps or flashlights) from interfering with the user’s ability to see, and prevents light from the display from leaking out
- Demist shield: Used to prevent the eyepiece lenses from becoming fogged
- Sacrificial window: Replaceable window used to protect the objective lens during operation in adverse conditions
- Soft carrying case holds the NVD and accessories
